PLAY is Not a 4-letter Word!

According to Forbes, “Creativity, problem-solving abilities, visualization and teamwork skills are some of the most important elements in the workforce of the future. We need people who can think independently and be creative; for this purpose, fun and play are excellent sources of inspiration.”

In that vein, I highly encourage everyone I know, including myself, to make every day a P.L.A.Y. date:

• P - Pretend?
• L - Laugh
• A - Ask
• Y - Yield

PRETEND: Unleash your extraordinary, limitless imagination. If you can see it, you can be it!

LAUGH: Laugh at yourself. Laugh with others. Laugh in the face of fear. Laughter lifts your mood, increases your energy, and releases pleasurable neurochemicals. Laughter is indeed the best medicine!

ASK: Curiosity suspends judgement. Be a student of life in every situation: “What can I learn? How can I grow? What else?!?” Get really clear on the “Why?” (motivation) and “What?” (goals/dreams)

YIELD: Surrender the need to know “How?” As Tony Robbins and Dean Graziosi remind us, “When your WHY and WHAT are clear and strong, the HOW will present itself. We cannot connect the dots looking forward, we can only see how the dots connected in the rear view mirror.” Get comfortable with uncertainty, knowing that you cannot control anything or anyone but yourself. Yield your “right of way” to the benevolent Omniscient Source of ALL good things, Who wants nothing but the best for you. Allow the Maestro conduct the symphony of life; be prepared and grateful to PLAY your part with great enthusiasm, passion, and joy!

Now turn this acronym into a math equation: P x L x A = Y. As you increase each of the variables, the outcome grows exponentially!

When Jesus’ peeps tried to shoo children away from Him, Jesus stopped them and told them to observe the kids carefully, “For such is the Kingdom of Heaven.” Leave your childISHness behind, but bring your childLIKEness into every moment. Tap into that feeling from your youth when life was a wondrous adventure to be experienced and the possibilities were truly endless.
