Platform Panic

When I was booted off Facebook right after Covid, I had to rebuild my business and chose LinkedIn. It was unexpected and tanked my business.
I have noticed that there appears to be fear around the stability of LinkedIn and the results seem to be people doing their best to move me 'off' LinkedIn.
I doubt LinkedIn will fold; it's more likely that we may be hacked and blocked from the platform as I was on Facebook.
So I get having a backup plan; a Plan B.
I don't have enough followers to spread part of them to another platform; nor do I want to invest the time nurturing two sites.
I'm not on Facebook, yet I get countless LinkedIn posts with a link taking me there, along with YouTube and of course, personal web sites. I choose to not go.

When I was on Facebook without realizing it I spent six hours a day there. I invest two or so on LinkedIn and sometimes less if I plan right. Jumping around to other platforms eats up time.
For events off this platform via Zoom ... I pay them little attention. I have discovered of all the platforms I have been on, this is the one that has the highest value. Good content, positions opening up, and thoughtful complimentary learning every day.
Why would I want to go elsewhere?
If it's worrying about LinkedIn disappearing so you want another platform to populate and build your business, I doubt that is an issue. You could be banned on LinkedIn for being hacked more easily; yet reports I get from connections is that LinkedIn service is better than expected.
Save time. Stay here. Time is a consumable commodity and the older we get the more precious it becomes. Platform Panic behaves like a virus ... it spreads quickly almost without our knowing it.

2 个月Hi Leslie Flowers Thanks for posting this -I like your positive attitude. I like LinkedIn, although I spend too much time here. I publish some on Meddium, BuzCatalyst 360, and beBee, but I'm not on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok or any other social media platform. Of course, I'm not trying to build a business - or at least not one that makes any money -my first book was described: for new consultants who won't listen and old consultants who don't read." ?? I have seen some people I know get thrown off -either.from swearing too much, or distributing misinformation about vaccines, Covid, or politics.. We should all limit our time on LinkedIn to 2 hours or less -go for a walk, read a book, talk to a real live person face to face . . . says he typing at 9:30 at night while my wife reads in bed and my dog barks because she wants her peeps with her when she sleeps. G'nite ??

Makes sense! I prefer LinkedIn as well due to Facebook not always reacting to timeline variables??
