I'm very proud to be part of the team that received a G42 award for "Datasense", a platform to investigate very large genomic datasets, and identify variants that cause disease. We use Datasense at G42 to derive biomedical insights from the Emirati Genome Project (EGP), one of the largest genomics datasets in the world, with over 450,000 genomes sequenced.

Datasense is based on Glow platform, linked to a spark cluster, and a datalake. It allows G42 to analyze hundreds of thousands of genomes (more to come!). Rare variant analysis, annotation of genomes, GWAS, family analysis, SKAT and burden analysis, are all available at Datasense. With support for Python, R, ML and AI tools.

Datasense was a strong collaborative work, within the wider G42, including the engineering team, infra, data science and G42 cloud. To analyze the EGP, with so much data, we need all these skills. G42 is one of the few places in the world with all the capabilities to make it happen.
