Platform Conference. It's like our festival celebrating knowledge sharing and bonding among cross-office tech teams
Boozt Technology Baltics
We're an experienced and innovative technology team - part of Nordic technology company Boozt.
For the 11th year in a row, we had our traditional internal Platform Conference. It's like our festival celebrating knowledge sharing and bonding among cross-office tech teams. This time is for connection, reflection, and inspiration.
When our CTO Jesper gave the conference's keynote speech, we saw the topics of the previous ones - it was like a reflection of the way we went through. "People", "Exponential", "Disruption", "Start-up mindset", "After the storm" - and this time our focus was on complexity. "Luckily it's difficult," Jesper started his talk, "it's a thing we have said a lot of times here at Boozt". It's interesting to work with complex challenges and it opens new possibilities. On the other hand, it has probably always been this way, we just stopped noticing that.
Each year our Platform conference is different because we build it by ourselves and talk on topics that are important to us at that time: we share our challenges, ups & downs, lessons learned, or, to put it simply, just what we live by. Probably one of the most intriguing presentations this year was about (un)fair shopping and a deeper dive into our Fair Use policy.
We look broader and invite our current tech partners to share their stories and have some conversations - so we can know them better or learn something. This year we welcomed guest speakers from GitLab, Cloudflare, Slack, Adyen and Google.
On the second day our people thrived! We had four rounds with three tracks each - it was not easy to choose where to participate. However, we're happy to have requests to repeat some of them in other formats of our internal knowledge-sharing initiatives. Some of the topics to give you a clue are "5 years of vulnerabilities at Boozt", "Service Mesh and API gateway" or, most popular among attendees, "Jedi techniques".
Later we dove into the most practical part - workshops. We had fifteen of them: "Warehouse and Data Science", "MongoDB", "Scrum / Project Managing - In a Lean Way" and others. It was awesome to join and hear thoughts from colleagues in different offices - to learn their different approaches or realize that we think similarly.
Of course, the bonding was not only during the day - it continued in the evening. Volleyball, basketball, tennis, SPA or just chilling - whatever you prefer. And following discussions, stories, memories - with lots of fun and good mood. The absolute majority of us didn't want to go to our hotel rooms after the official evening celebration time - so we did not. We stayed together longer and created more memories and stories for the future.
Power to the people - as always!
