Platform 818 Re-opens

Attention Sydney Foodies, Platform 818 is back!

Having re-opened its doors this past week, Platform 818 is excited to be again welcoming its loyal patrons, serving up the signature modern Australian cuisine that we all know and love.

Delivering a refined and evolved menu the reopening is something the Sydney food scene has been craving. The result is an imaginative menu with a twist on the classics, along with some new additions.

Executive Chef Simon Harrisons hallmark Riverina Halloumi with wild honey and pistachio crumb hits the spot every time and is the perfect pairing with the Junee Lamb Loin or Riverina Scotch Fillet. A new addition to the menu sees a Warm Brioche bread and butter pudding with brandy snap rounding out the evening.

Platforms signature all Australian wine list is still a staple and delivers the best in boutique and bespoke Australian wines, however you can’t let the evening escape you without trying something from the curated high ball cocktail list. From cocktails topped with Persian fairy floss to smoked cinnamon quills, Platform 818’s mixologist delivers every time. To end the evening (or to just get it started), a Salted Caramel Martini night-cap is the way to go.

Platform 818’s restaurant concept takes inspiration from its prime location, conveniently located opposite Sydney’s historic Central Station. When it first opened in 1855, Sydney’s Central Station was a simple wooden platform, nothing more than a corrugated iron shed. Platform 818 have taken some of this rustic inspiration for its own industrial interior and the menu draws on the fact that directly below the hotel lies the now unused original Goods Line Tunnel that connected Sydney Rail Yard and the Sydney-Parramatta railway line to the shipping port of Darling Harbour.
