Plateauing of Hype around ChatGPT – and what lies ahead

I feel as if I have been an unwitting participant in a big, humanity wide social experiment for the last few weeks (maybe a social experiment set up by our alien overloads, the Lizard people). ?If we were to intercept one of the internal Lizard-people memos on this experiment – this is how it would perhaps look.

Experiment name: ChatGPT

Experiment objective: How test subject(s) react to introducing a new external stimulus to their environment

Summary of findings: Test subject is capable of reacting quickly to the stimuli but endures some stress in the process.

It is true that ChatGPT induced some level of stress in all of us as we tried to figure out what it means for us – as individuals, as community and as enterprises. Most of us talked about ChatGPT incessantly, watched videos about it, played with it and tried to peer into a future with ChatGPT. No other topic has captured our interest as much as ChatGPT for the last couple of months. I have a feeling if alien life-forms were indeed discovered in the last few weeks, that news would not even make it to the front page. Our fixation with the topic of ChatGPT bordered on insanity.

Having said that, I think we are at the beginning of the plateauing of our initial interest in ChatGPT. Our brain has started to accept the permanence of generative AI. It still has a ‘new car smell’ but we are getting used to it. We know we can co-exist with this AI and maybe benefit from it. We have started to breathe normally.

Given where we are and based on what I know – here is my prediction for the next few months and years. Please bear in mind that I work in Employee support space for enterprises, so my perspective will be from that vantage point.

1.??????Knowledge will be unlocked and become even more accessible within next 6 months:

The principal and more immediate outcomes clearly are going to be in all areas related to knowledge automation. Enterprise knowledge that was locked away in SharePoint folders and obscure policy documents will become easily accessible. You would be able to chat with your contracts and have conversations with complex product manuals. Excels and Data will become easier to digest – and financial statements would be interpreted quickly. In next 6 months, you will see more of these solutions coming to forefront.

2.??????Integrating ChatGPT with existing applications might not be that easy and might take up-to a year for most modern companies, longer for others: At Rezolve.ai we started very early with the integration with OpenAI and have already accomplished integration with our core product. ?Apart from enabling enterprise version of knowledge automation based on OpenAI and creating proprietary models around it – we have also successfully modified our core product to benefit from generative AI based models. ?However, it was not easy, and you have to remember that Rezolve.ai started with an AI oriented architecture. Based on what I am hearing in the industry right now, I expect to see many launches, with varying degree of sucess. For modern products and applications based on cloud hosted architecture, it might take up to an year to accomplish meaningful and seamless integrations. Legacy product companies/applications will take even longer or might not be able to integrate altogether.

?3.??????Process automation integrated with Generative AI will be next big thing: For enterprises, process automation layer will become a key to unlock further potential beyond knowledge automation – and will become focus of many enterprises and product companies. The Generative AI models married with a strong process automation layer will unleash the next set of use cases across industries. This next level of automation will take a few more years to percolate.

?4.??????Beyond a 3-year horizon, I would not even hazard a guess.
