Plants and Soils: A Strong Ambition for ?nsect

At the time of the company's founding in 2011, our co-founders had the ambition to reinvent the food chain by providing mealworm-based ingredients for both animal and human consumption. It wasn't until 2020, after several years of research and development, that we successfully developed the first fertilizer made from insect dejections, which was then launched in France. These dejections, often referred to as "black gold," have consistently demonstrated their benefits for plant and soil nutrition, ultimately establishing themselves as a distinct market opportunity.

In this regard, the beginning of our year 2024 has been quite eventful. We took advantage of our presence at SIVAL, the biggest French plant production trade show, to introduce our fertilizer and its benefits for large-scale

agriculture to industry professionals. Additionally, in late February, we participated in the 60th edition of the International Agricultural Show in Paris, alongside La Ferme Digitale.

This event serves as a pivotal meeting point between professionals and the general public, making it an essential opportunity to showcase our activities, our mealworms, and the resulting products. For the very first time, we centered our presence around our plant and soil products by unveiling our brand new professional-oriented line, Nat?v.

So, why did we decide to focus on these markets? Why do plants and soil hold such great importance for us?

Today, agriculture is facing increasingly severe climate uncertainties and declining yields. It's now essential for farmers to find solutions to ensure their yields while reducing their environmental impact. In this context, the health of soils and plants has become a crucial issue for the sustainability of the sector.

The dejections of our insects has already proven its numerous virtues (synergy with earthworms, reactivation of soil microbial activity, increased yields, etc.). Consequently, it's an extremely rich and ideal ingredient to assist farmers in transitioning towards regenerative agriculture. Now more than ever, we must work hand in hand to find solutions that are natural, healthy, and sustainable, yet ensure profitability for our farmers.

Earthworm, as its precursor, validates the use of insect dejections as one of the most successful of the strategies to improve soil health. In Solagro, we believe in using a pull of sustainable and complementary strategies to improve and maintain Soil health. And many of these practices also improve plant health. A Healthy Soil = Healthy Roots = a road to a Health Plant. Learning and, most importantly, understanding the interaction between all the abiotic and biotic factors that affect crops has a greater positive impact on agriculture, than focusing on just the individual factors by themselves.

We at Viridian Renewable Technology Pty Ltd find the same, have had the “black gold” in the market for several years now and the results are amazing, especially the flavour and succulence of produce.
