Planting Seeds During Slow Times

Planting Seeds During Slow Times

It’s harvest time.

This time of year, my youngest son spends time enjoying the fruits of his labours.

After many hours in the early spring with my wife planting seeds, then weeding the gardens repeatedly, now is the time he can reap the benefits of his efforts.

Literally.

During the last week, our house has been filled with cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers, all grown by my youngest son (with some help from my wife, of course).

During the last several months I’ve shared strategies for planting your own seeds with buyers. You’ll recall we’ve talked about strategies such as:

  • Using the call/send strategy, leaving a voice message before your email outreach to ensure buyers look for your communications.
  • Sending the “confused” email to engage those buyers who have connected and then dropped off the face of the earth.
  • Doubling up on outreach in the weeks leading up to vacation, to remain consistent with your outreach volume.

?The list goes on.

Summer is truly a time for planting seeds, considering all the vacations, long weekends, and a general laid-back approach many buyers take during the summer months.

But now is the time to harvest.

You’ve been reaching out, calling, emailing, and sending connections on LinkedIn.

Now is the time to harvest sales from your efforts.

It’s time to get back on the road, stopping by to see buyers when you’re “in their area.”

It’s time to start being more assertive in getting meetings.

It’s time to get back to networking and meeting with your buyers.

Look, I get it.

Summer is a time to take it easy, spending a bit more time behind the computer and less time on the road.

Hopefully, as you’ve been doing this, you’ve heeded my advice and planted seeds along the way.

But now it’s time to harvest, friend.

It’s time to get assertive, to get off your butt, and to go get yours.

If you don’t, your closest competitor (who might also be reading this), might get there first.

So, enjoy this week, and the dog days of summer that remain.

But next week, it’s time.

Let’s go get it!

?

Best,

Shawn
