At the planting-blocks
Hi there,
As the vibrant celebrations of Carnival are almost behind us in Brazil, we turn our focus towards the promise of a new planting season.
In the coming months, we’ll restore seven projects in Brazil and French Guiana, alongside diligent monitoring of two projects.
MORFO is set to make waves on the global stage this year, with a presence at numerous events worldwide. You won’t just see us on lands, you’ll also see us on different stages, where we’ll convince more and more investors to fund projects. Let us know if you want to meet us there!

?? Fazenda das Palmas
MORFO and ITPA team up to restore the breathtaking Mata Atlantica forest in Brazil!
Formerly deforested for sugarcane and eucalyptus, Fazenda das Palmas is now undergoing a remarkable transformation. With 26 local plant species selected for resilience, our teams are working tirelessly to recreate a diverse ecosystem.
Monitoring of the project’s progress will be done over 30 years, with the first one being in the next two weeks, thanks to on-site visits and advanced technology. Beyond ecological restoration, this project also provides jobs for locals and mitigates erosion risks, safeguarding the community and its infrastructure.
?? “We must restore forests, not just plant trees”
In a recent paper, Adrien Pages, MORFO's CEO, discusses the connection between forest biodiversity and carbon credits, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive approach to forest valuation that considers carbon, biodiversity, and social impact. He highlights the challenge of accurately measuring biodiversity and advocates for more inclusive methods involving advanced monitoring and community engagement to recognize forests' broader benefits beyond carbon storage, ensuring their long-term health and resilience.

?? Seed of the month: Araribá
The Araribá seed, scientifically known as Centrolobium tomentosum, hails from the Atlantic Forest and is a vital player in ecosystem reconstruction. Its large, disc-shaped seeds facilitate easy planting and rapid growth under favorable conditions. These seeds give rise to Araribá trees, fostering biodiversity and adapting well to various environments. The name "Araribá," originating from Tupi-Guarani languages, signifies its symbolic connection to sunlight and nature, highlighting its ecological significance in sustaining life.
