#newdaynewchapter is a Blog narrative started on March 1, 2021 co-founded by Kishore Shintre & Sonia Bedi, to write a new chapter everyday for making "Life" and not just making a "living"
In my childhood parents always used to tell me that "money does not grow on trees" and therefore we need to use money very wisely since we need to earn it by working hard. But later in life I realised that money does grow on trees, by the way, but business tree money is much more utilitarian as among close friends when one sees the power a mature landscape tree has among the swings of boughs.
Like all living things, trees are social creatures. They may have problems with some fellow vegetations and zealous beetles and warts perhaps, but all in all, they cherish an expanse of naturally irrigated land with a profusion of life neighborly to them. To think that a life, of a tree upon land suitable as shared with human beings ,is not sensitive to the habits and typical activities of humans is to miss one of the most stultifying potencies of nature per the inter adaptations of living things for each other.
If we think we are the master of our home and gardens and can have whatever we wish to grow for us, we shall not even want to know a tree can be contained to shade a car and prevent birds from congregating over it. This is not something brought about by a hired gardener, but by you as the trees hired guardian. Tree roots do not block drainage from your home. They promote it. Have a shot of your favorite spirit with that tree and I assure you it will help you to flush and it to flourish a more streamline tree root system under your outdoor flooring prefectures.
As we all were taught in our school education about the benefits of planting trees, trees absorb carbon dioxide and store them as carbon thus preventing global warming. Trees provide us with oxygen to breathe. Trees absorb odors and pollutant gases (nitrogen oxides, ammonia, sulfur dioxide and ozone) and filter particulates out of the air by trapping them on their leaves and bark. Trees cool the environment thus preventing the glaciers from melting.
Having trees around you keeps you happy and peaceful. Trees help reduce unwanted noise from traffic. Trees provide shades from souring heat. Shades from trees reduces water evaporation from land utilising water. Trees store lots of water in and around their roots thus increasing the ground water level. Trees prevent soil erosion.
Trees prevent water floods. Many trees provide food and medicine. Harvest from trees help earning money. Trees eliminates the food crisis. Trees provides food to birds, insects and animals. Trees provides shelters for birds and animals. Trees acts as a natural wall instead of concrete wall boundaries. Trees in the middle and side of highways prevent the unwanted traffic noises and vehicles crashing into other sides in case of accidents. Trees provide wood for furniture.
Trees purifies the air and prevents air pollution. Tree roots purifies the water and prevents water pollution. Trees act as a natural air conditioner in case of summer. Trees absorbs rain water and prevent them from running off to the oceans. Trees can be a eco-friendly fuel. Decayed tree leaves acts as a manure for the soil and improves soil quality. Trees prevent from wind storms. Trees acts as carbon sink. Trees increases biodiversity. Living in vicinity of trees help prevent mental health issues.
Tree plantation and maintenance provides livelihood to many families. Homes surrounded by trees yields better price than homes without them. Trees attract beautiful birds. Trees mark the seasons. Planting trees prevents barren lands from converting to deserts. Areas with trees and green spaces are statistically shown to be lower in violence and crime. More trees meaning more vegetarian food and fruits thus reducing the need of animal slaughter and meat.
Trees planted near the lake and river beds can protect the lakes and rivers from shrinkage and to keep the water level intact. So to reap all these benefits trees should be planted on all empty lands. At least 33 percent of world landmass area must be under trees. Give plants as a gift on birthdays and other occasions. Plant big trees as they have more potential for carbon absorption. Plant fruit trees in urban areas to eliminate food crisis.
The global tree restoration potential report found that there is enough suitable land to increase the world’s forest cover by one-third without affecting existing cities or agriculture.“A nation that destroys its soils destroys itself. Forests are the lungs of our land, purifying the air and giving fresh strength to our people. ” said Franklin D. Roosevelt. Cheers!
