Plant 3D and Navisworks 2024 missing pipe run components

I always come across Plant 3D users who either don’t have the “switchback” function working in Navisworks or they don’t use Navisworks because it doesn’t show the model correctly.

This is normally because the Plant 3D Object Enabler that matches your Plant 3D version is not installed, but with 2024 there is now a second Object Enabler required to get it working in Navisworks. Below is the setup guide for Navisworks 2024 and Plant 3D 2024 but the process is similar for older versions

1: Always install AutoCAD Plant 3D prior to installing Navisworks (ie: install Revit, AutoCAD Plant 3D first and then install Navisworks last)

2. Install the relevant object enabler for Plant 3D and Navisworks - ?AutoCAD Plant 3D Object Enabler 2024 and Object Enabler for AutoCAD Plant 3D 2024 (Navisworks)

These can also be downloaded from your Autodesk account, simply search for Plant 3D in the product updates section and note that you may have to increase the “release date:” to “All” on the top right otherwise you may not see the downloads listed ?

3. Install the Navisworks NWC Export Utility for Navisworks 2024

4. If you want to use the Switchback utility which is installed from step 3 do the following to activate the in the relevant program that you are going to be using

In AutoCAD Plant 3D 2024 do the following:

1.???????????????Open any file in AutoCAD Plant 3D 2024

2.???????????????Type ‘NWLOAD’ and press “Enter” and you should see the following in the command line “Navisworks ready”

3.???????????????To test this is working open a NWF file in Navisworks & right click on a pipe item and select the Switchback command

If you created an NWF or NWD file before installing the Plant 3D Object Enabler you may end up with those files still not showing up correctly, if this is the case simply close Navisworks and delete all NWC files from the project and open the NWF file again which will then recreate the NWC files including the missing geometry. NWD files will need to be deleted and recreated as they will not update as NWD files don’t work the same as NWF files.
