At the Feb. 10 Plano City Council Meeting, council members adopted the order for the May 3, 2025 General Election.??
Important election dates:
The order allows for the electing of four members of city council positions: Place 2 (District 2), Place 4 (District 4), Place 6 (mayor) and Place 8. Each position will hold office for a four-year term.?The last day to file as candidate is Friday, Feb. 14 by 5 pm.?Go to Plano.gov/Elections for more details.
Monday night, City Council also passed the 2025 Bond Referendum Special Election Resolution. This resolution places $647.9 million in new bond authority across seven propositions before voters during the May 3, 2025 municipal elections.
The Referendum includes funding for Street Improvements, Public Safety Facilities, Fleet Operation Facilities, Library Facilities and Parks and Recreation Facilities Projects. The projected tax rate impact is 3.20 cents or $224.65 for an average home of $579,554 in 2029 if all propositions are approved. A detailed list of the project descriptions can be found online.
