Personal branding is a massive opportunity maker, opening many doors today, especially in digital business. The previous years, although they were tough, also opened more and more opportunities for remote working, which means that we can work from anywhere to anywhere, but a solid, well-planned personal brand is essential here! Simply without a plan, we cannot have clear steps to follow, and also, we can not have a way to measure our progress, right!?
For anything you are trying to achieve,
"If you cannt measure it, you cannt manage it"
To measure anything, you should have plan!
Here are 5 steps that we call the GOAST, yes you read that correctly goast (it's not Ghost misspelled!)
1- Goals
What exactly are you trying to achieve through your personal branding? It can be anything, like getting engagement for your social media posts, subscribers for your YouTube channel, or invitations to speak at events. But just write it down and try to stick to 3 relevant goals at any time. Always remember it's about you and your authentic character , not just pushing your audience towards a certain business/commercial action!
2- Objectives
SMART Objectives is the magical tool that "frames" the goals! How would you measure your progress if your goal is more engagement for your social media posts? Is it good to have five shares for every Facebook post, seven comments on every Instagram video, and so on? It's crucial to have your "goals" framed into "SMART Objectives." This slide deck can help you better understand the idea!

3- Audience
Who is exactly your target audience? The answer to this question needs to be very precise! The more precisely you design the persona of your audience, sometimes called buyer persona, the more you can create the right content on the right platform at the right time, to your goals and achieve your SMART objectives.
If you do not analyze your target audience, you will be wasting your time, or even maybe offending them because you don't understand them!
4- Strategy
What path will you follow to achieve those SMART objectives for that specific target audience? If you want to go from point A to B, shall you go walking, using a bike, car, or plane? So here, for example, the strategy can be around high-quality content to drive organic engagement & website traffic from existing networks & fans. Or, maybe, content plus paid ads & promotions to reach a wider new audience. And so on.
5- Tactics
After designing the strategy, tactics can be the mechanism to implement & execute that strategy. It is the list of daily tasks that you should be working on. If the strategy is around high-quality content only, what are the best formats that you should create, which frequency of posting you shall follow, whom you should tag in your posts, and the list goes on?
