How A Little Time On Sunday Can Catapult Your Monday!

“It’s a Monday”
“It’s been a long weekend”
“I need coffee”
“Here we are again”
“It’s too early for that”
“I guess I should catch up on weekend emails”
The above are all things I hear way too often, I never truly get it and it always makes me scratch my head. I am all for having a work free weekend, but 15 minutes on Sunday is way better than all of the thoughts above!
Sometime between church, spending time with my family, and Sunday NFL games I grab my laptop and do what I call “clean up.” Cleaning up for me is not actively working; it’s simply getting everything in line for Monday. In my role, I don’t have time to spend 2 hours getting ready for Monday when it’s already Monday. I used to lay down on Sunday thinking about all the things I have on my plate waiting for Monday, now I lay down relieved that everything is in line and ready to act on!
I am a people person, which means on Monday mornings I normally chat for about 20 minutes with my team or colleagues on other teams (not work related topics). That is how I have and always will get my week started, before I put the “clean up” process in place that couldn’t happen because I was automatically behind on Monday morning.
I have had people walk up to me and say “don’t you have stuff to catch up on from the weekend?” I simply tell them nope, I took care of all of that on Sunday so I could do this first thing Monday morning instead of working. It starts my work week off on a personal level instead of strictly business.
I am all about people having different ways of doing things; and this may not work for everyone. However, I would love for you to try it out. I can guarantee you will sleep better, and get more accomplished on the start of your week. It is so hard to catch up when you start off behind!
This all can be done on Saturday as well, just a few minutes in your weekend will catapult your week!
Happy Monday!
