Planning Application Submitted for New Residential Development at the Former St John Fisher Secondary School Site, Ordnance Street, Medway, Kent

Eutopia Homes with Chenavari Investment Managers is pleased to announce the submission of a planning application for the redevelopment of the former St John Fisher School site.

·?????? Eutopia Homes has submitted a planning application for the redevelopment of the former St John Fisher School site.

·?????? Plans comprise 139 residential units, including 77 townhouses set within new public open space, landscaping, and biodiversity areas.

·?????? Eutopia Homes has a track record in developing urban, brownfield sites and delivering 'Build to Rent' projects in locations that can be a catalyst for urban regeneration, providing new homes and communities that people aspire to live in.?

·?????? The proposals look to build on the emerging single family rental market which the site is well suited to cater for given its proximity to the train station with direct links to both London Victoria and St Pancras in 40 minutes.

Located in Chatham, the application seeks permission for 139 residential units, which, if approved, would contribute substantially to Medway’s housing supply and enrich the local environment. The proposal includes new public open spaces, landscaped areas, and biodiversity enhancements for existing and future residents. The project aims to meet various social, economic, and environmental objectives, making it a comprehensive addition to the local community.

?The former school and wider site became vacant in February 2023 following the relocation of the school to its new facility at City Way. This prime location is now poised for transformation into a vibrant residential community following the sites purchase in 2023 by Eutopia Homes and Chenavari Investment Managers.

Lorna Henderson, Director at Eutopia Homes, said:

“This application follows extensive pre-application dialogue with officers at Medway Council and a comprehensive programme of community engagement. This included inviting local residents to attend a public exhibition and an online meeting earlier this year. We would like to thank local people for providing their valuable feedback.

Our proposals seek to facilitate the redevelopment of a vacant, urban brownfield site to deliver much-needed homes whilst also creating publicly accessible landscaped open space for new and existing residents. This is an exciting opportunity for Eutopia, and if approved, our plans have the potential to attract investment into the wider area that will complement and support future planned growth.”

Eutopia Homes is committed to delivering high-quality residential spaces that foster community and sustainability. This project is a testament to our dedication to urban regeneration and improving the quality of life for residents in Medway.

The planning application is expected to be determined by Medway Council later in 2024. We look forward to working closely with the council and the community as we progress through this process.
