PLANNED-OBSOLESCENCE BY DESIGN

Global circumstances are reshaping thinking about what we buy: packaging, consumer goods, capital equipment, transportation, what and how we eat, the clothes we wear and building methods-- with novel, refreshing and challenging ideas and solutions—do we have a choice ??No longer. Our products are BUILT TO FAIL – no industry is immune.Think before you buy or endure the consequences:?Repercussions? Todays products are inteded to expire - business models must change. Until manufacturers revamp their designs to last (or be recyeled), we'll continue to pollute. rapidly deplete resources, while accelerating the degradation of ecosystems.?UNACCEPTABLE.

It's all about economics. Manufacturers can make products lasting products however, it could put them out of business. Of course they have brain power and the tools to up product lifecycles, but will they comply? ?It's their responsibility but also signals a warning. MANUFACTURERS WILL?HAVE TO REINVENT THEMSELVES or FADE AWAY.

If manmade products were designed to last, manufacturing revenues would plummet, thus my theory has always been that most products we use are developed to have a life span, or in other words, planned obsolescence by intent.

PAUSE & THINK: Before you buy,?STOP, and ask yourself if the purchase is necessary.?Can you do without??Have you grasped the benefits of living a minimalistic lifestyle??Repetitive and over-used buzz words or phrases such as ‘re-imagining’, re-thinking, recycling and redesigning are not only relevant, they are a necessity.?Behavior change is critical to solving the waste crisis and fixing?the broken recycling value chain.?Assuming we all do the right thing for the environment -- what will happenThink before you buy, or endure the environmental consequences:?Repercussions? We continue to ?pollute, resource deplete resources, accelerate the degradation of?Assuming my assumption is correct; we buy products knowing that they are designed for planned obsolescence.?STOP, and ask yourself if the purchase is necessary.?What can you do without??

Have you grasped the benefits of living a minimalistic lifestyle? It's a feel good, and the good news is materialism is now the bad boy.?What prompted me to rethink this is how the world is reshaping people, packaging, consumer and capital equipment and building methods are often novel, refreshing and challenging—but do we have a choice??

How about Circular Economy living for a start? There is HOPE.
