The planets must align.....

I hear people say...the stars must align to make that happen. When the stars align, everything comes together in a positive way. When talking about your own life you might say “My stars aligned,” or if you're talking about someone else you can say “Her stars aligned.” But really what does that mean.....

When stars were divine, and their journeys across the heavens foretold the events to unfold on our humble terrestrial sphere, the alignments of stars were studiously marked. They signaled the rise of new dynasties, a lucky windfall, ill-fated love. With the passage of a few millennia (and the realization that the wandering stars were planets), our modern sensibilities have been honed to instinctually interpret the apparent crossing of stellar paths as just a happy but natural coincidence with no deeper significance. But perhaps mistakenly so. For when the stars align, you just might catch a glimpse of things otherwise invisible: binary stars in wide orbits, isolated black hole hermits, or the abandoned (or unruly) free-floating planet far from the star around which it was born.

But apart from understanding where this saying comes from, are we really saying we are leaving things to chance? I sometimes wonder is there such a thing as "modern sensibilities"? While we know more now than our grand parents are we not just "creating" different problems for ourselves ?

There are more people who feel isolated, more people who feel lonely and more with mental health issues than ever before. There are more people living on the street than I can ever remember with no shelter or jobs. There are more people on drugs and more crime.

Are we as a generation smarter than the last or more tolerate than other generations ?

We have created devises and machines to make our lives easier and yet we are "less happy" and more "busy" than ever before. We need more and more 'stuff' which never seems to fill the black hole of insecurities because we are too busy "trying" to keep up with the Jones.

We need to "CHANGE" and go back to basic's. And it start's with us.....

Mean mother

A mean mother never allows sweets to take place of a well balanced meal.

A mean mother insists on knowing where her children are at all times and who their friends are and what they are doing.

A mean mother breaks the child labour laws by making her children work washing dishes making beds learning to cook and doing other unpleasant job's.

A mean mother makes life miserable for her offspring by insisting that they always tell the truth.

A mean mother can smile with secret pride when she hears her own grand children calling their parents mean.

Is what the world needs now are more mean mothers and mean fathers?
