Artist Spotlight - Christopher Carpenter
Planet Classroom is honored to shine a light on director and storyteller Christopher Carpenter, one of the talented individuals whose films have made a valuable impact on the Planet Classroom community.
Christopher Scott Carpenter graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern California (USC) where he earned his Bachelor’s degrees in Film & Television Production and Cognitive Science. Christopher held the William J. Clinton Fellowship for Service in India, the Global East Asia Fellowship for Study in China, and has led service trips to Thailand. He is currently a Schwarzman Scholar pursuing a Master's degree in Global Affairs at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.

Rakesh comes from a traditional household where his family has high expectations for his future career. As a result, he pursues a degree for money rather than interest. It is not until he takes part in a program that develops his ability to cook that Rakesh truly finds his passion.?
Carpenter’s portrayal of India, Rakesh, and the Dream a Dream Development Program is incredibly significant and a necessary watch for all audiences. The Dream a Dream Development Program identifies skills and resources for young individuals to learn and make use of.?
Alex Silverman offers an in depth summary and analysis of A Recipe to Thrive, stating, “it does serve as a good way for people to get familiar with the Dream A Dream organization.” Silverman focuses heavily on the informational layer of this film and its ability to share valuable knowledge on Dream a Dream, as well as the impact the organization has had on individuals.?
Giving this film a rating of 3 out of 5 stars, Silverman’s primary complaint was the lack of background information offered on Rakesh. Home Remedy is a short film that highlights the importance of communication in relationships. The film follows a young girl by the name of Jasleen, who learns a healthy dialogue exercise with her peers in her New Delhi classroom. Malapitan is a visual facilitator, artist, and trainer, and in this film, a speaker at Change The Script 2019. Malapitan employs the ideas of everyone in the audience at this event and promotes a beautiful display of collaboration and participation.
Visualizing Change by Carpenter examines and documents this sequence of what it means to generate ideas, produce results, and engage with audiences, with the goal of learning and creating.?
Ethan Thomas provides audiences with a necessary recommendation of Visualizing Change. Thomas praises the effortless ability of Chris Malapitan to connect with an audience, as well as Christopher Carpenter’s ability to portray that.
