The Planet Classroom network inspires current generations through the art of visual storytelling. Our Problem Solvers video series encourages young artists to create short visual stories that identify a problem and share a perspective on a solution in an impactful way so as to engage an audience.?
This week, we have highlighted a few films from this series that cover significant topics, including assisting refugees in Ukraine, developing farming technology amidst climate change effects on agriculture, and fostering a more inclusive environment. We hope these projects have the ability to enlighten, empower, and entertain.?
Diamond Middleton’s How to Help Ukraine Refugees is a short film in Planet Classroom’s problem solvers series that addresses the relationship between Ukraine and Russia. Middleton breaks down the history between the two countries and the eventual war that began in 2022 when Russia invaded Ukraine’s territories.?
Middleton promotes raising awareness about the crisis in Ukraine in order to provide individuals who have been affected by the war with every necessary resource - ranging from financial needs to mental health resources.?

Evolving Framing With Technology, a film by Brigid Donahue, explores the innovative and technologically advanced ways that farmers are solving agricultural issues resulting from climate change. Hoping to address the impact of floods, droughts, and pest control on agriculture, Donahue delves into detail on the utilization of technology, such as drones and harvest automation.?
Donahue also places emphasis on Yoseph Beyene’s organization that utilizes hybrid maize varieties, as well as Scott Henry at Longview Farms who focuses on nutrient management -- both invested in technology to help and protect their agriculture.
In How Can We Become More Inclusive, Justine DeJesus asks a significant question: “How do we create a culture in schools that values students of different backgrounds and abilities?” DeJesus promotes the building of a community that welcomes everyone. This film calls for an end to segregation in classrooms based on abilities, and a push for inclusivity among peers and in curricula.?
Additionally, encouraging every member of a child’s life to become a little more involved is recommended to create an environment that is, at its foundation, built on a sense of equality and togetherness.
