PLANES AND WATCHES…

PLANES AND WATCHES…

Oh man this article is so over due, man, planes, and watches the real dream, theres a huge watch enthusiast market of pilots watches like the classic “ IWC Schaffhausen Big Pilot” which I love the Spitfire, or ” BREITLING Navitimer”, or ” ZENITH Watches Pilot”, I wanna dive in deeper with some out of the box pilots watches, lets dive in.

Bremont H1 Fury

To start off this week, as the weather here is terrible, it reminds me of the British weather, which makes me think of Bremont Watch Company H1 Fury, this watch is one of the finest British watch ever made, bringing back the original watch making industry to England where a lot of watches used to make their watches like Cartier and others.

Bremont H1 Fury

Bremont has beautiful in house movements, with the most prestigious dials, that are made with the best materials and latest styles, for me buying a pilots watch is a no brainer to get from Bremont, especially at a price point of under 7K, sitting on a 43mm case which seems big, but sits actually very comfortable.

The watch has a seriously gorgeous blue dial, feels like a Patek, the Red gives it a nice kick to it, while the shiny white numerals speak volume about the watch, and to top it all off the strap is super comfortable, and beautifully made white stitching.

Another watch company which has Ben capturing my heart and mind is Oris ProPilot X, the watch is no regulars pilots watch, first it has a beautiful integrated bracelet which is seen rarely by pilots watches, second its titanium which technically means nothing, but the mere fact that Oris is upgrading is great.

Then heading to the dial, they made a beautiful salmon dial, and blue dial which both capture the in a really beautiful way and shine, especially with these lume hands, they are really innovative, and the movement theres nothing to talk about, Oris has been one off the few companies to make their in house movements at affordable costs that you don't see it anywhere else, this watch doesn’t disappoint either at $4,300 USD it’s a bargain.

Next on todays roller coaster is non other than Bell & Ross BR 03 GYROCOMPASS, this watch is so not conventional and typical which I stand for, it all starts with the B&R case which is a signature in every collection (gladly own one), the case is Matt black ceramic which is sooooo fresh, rubber strap gives the durability, the lovely four corner screws as always, lets go to the dial, this was one of their mechanically difficult watches to make, as the watch has a compass, and plus fitting in the plane inside to turn for the hour marker.

From a pure selfish look standpoint this watch is what we need, more out of the box thinking, more color more pop, more fun, plus this watch is limited to 999 watches, at a price of $4,500 its great bang for your buck! And I would definitely buy this one, and if you are not into this, they have more conventional pilots watches.

Before we get to our last watch this week, I wanna mention a blast from the last decade the Universal Genève comeback and hopefully we will start seeing the paulrouter again in new and updated.

LONGINES PILOT MAJETEK

Last but not least is the “ Longines Watch Co. Francillon Ltd. PILOT MAJETEK” this watch is a true old timer, been around the block and reissued lately again, this watch brings up nostalgia towards vintage watches, the watch was first introduced and supplied to the Czechoslovakian Air Force in the 1930s. The watches were marked as “Majetek Vojenske Spravy”, meaning “property of military administration”, thats where the name comes from, and happily comeback this past year.

The case is a beautifully over sized 43mm giving it a real pilots watch look, with the much smaller dial, with the beautiful vintage dial and numerals, with a original rotating bezel, engraved on the side is 1935 for the first year it was sold to the public.

LONGINES PILOT MAJETEK

This watch connects the past and present, with its beautiful aesthetics, with a price point of $3,750 the watch has a modified ETA movement specifically designed for this watch, I think every collection needs one watch that tributes to the past, and this watch is done excellent.

What do you think?

Let me know

See you next week

Great list, I’m sad to see what appears to be Bremont Watch Company turning away from aviation inspired watches in lieu of adventure dive watches. They seemed to be competing well against IWC and honestly there are to many dive watches in the 4-5K range. Also interesting choice to pick the propilot x over the big crown for Oris but I still love it it, the laser is amazing piece. Great write up, love your stuff.
