''Plane'' food
Recently had the opportunity to fly BA business class, the benchmark of flying throughout the world
Once we had checked in, Passport control, etc., we went and sat in the BA lounge in terminal 5,
There was some nice wines, spirits on offer, and a nice choice of food, I grabbed a small amount of Thai curry and rice, it was tasty,
Once on the plane and we had taken off, we was presented with a menu to choose from, I think this is where the confusion started,
It read as follows from what I remember
Smoked salmon with granary bread mustard dressing
Vegetarian Sushi, sesame dressing
Roasted leg of Lamb with Cous Cous
Cod with Mediterranean Vegetables
Chocolate bar torte
Seasonal local cheese’s with crackers.
I am now sat there thinking, how can it be, there are 30 odd passengers in business class all paying 2k each? And the intention is to serve them very average un thought about food,
The starters was fine, but due to how planes reheat food,The cod eventually arrived and it came how I imagines, a piece of fish put into a hot cupboard for a
long period of time, the flavour had evaporated, it was over cooked and texture less, My colleagues lamb came and the cous cous had turned to a mush resembling mashed potato, and the lamb was equally texture less,
The question is why do we accept this on the high street we would be writing lengthy complaint letters, but it seems as its part of our ticket price of 2k it does not seem to matter as much.
BA could of made a few simple changes to the menu to improve it, May be put the Salmon as the main course and done a smoked, cod, halibut starter, escabache or….
And with the lamb may be braised a nice piece of lamb and served it with gratin potatoes, this dish would of held up through the re-heating process far better,
It seems pointless creating interesting food that your unable to deliver, well, BA used to be about exceeding customer expectations. They fell very short on this occasion

8 年Very true. Similarly these experiences with other airlines. Their used to be some more focus on food but it seems in the past 5 years it has fallen back to where it was.
