Plan Your Year At All Costs!

Plan Your Year At All Costs!

But know that not everything will go as planned...??

2024 was a whirlwind of experiences, growth, and learning for me. From international business adventures in Australia and Germany through the Auburn University Harbert College of Business , to immersing myself in a summer internship at GEOTEK LLC all the way in Stewartville, Minnesota, every step pushed me out of my comfort zone. Joining the Office of Professional and Career Development at Auburn's HCOB was more than a professional milestone - it gave me the chance to guide and inspire our students, an opportunity I will always cherish.

Along the way, I found a sense of family in my community, deepened my faith, and celebrated service milestones like serving with the Beat Bama Food Drive and the Graduate Student Council (GSC)- Auburn University .

Professionally, I challenged myself by pursuing a degree and professional certifications in Management Information Systems and Business Analytics in addition to my MBA, expanding my analytics and technology capabilities. I wrapped up my MBA journey on a high note, winning awards with my team for our MBA capstone project - consulting for Aflac . The journey has been nothing short of fulfilling!

But here’s the truth: You can’t out-plan the year.

I learned that preparation is essential, but so is flexibility. There will be moments when the wind carries you to unexpected heights, and times when it feels like you’re standing against a storm. Preparation will help you soar in good times and sustain your stamina during challenges.

2024 taught me two invaluable lessons:

1. Rest is not optional—it’s essential. You can’t give your best without taking time to recharge.

2. Relationships matter. Build them, nurture them, and let them anchor you.

As I look to 2025, my compass is set on leading with integrity, building stronger relationships, and continuing to grow. Whether diving deeper into my field, serving my community, or creating moments of joy with family and friends, the focus will remain on improving, not just doing more.

To everyone thinking about the best way to navigate the coming year, here's my two cents;

- Make your plans, but don’t cling too tightly to them.

- Embrace the unexpected.

- And above all, take care of yourself.

I want to take this moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made 2024 such a meaningful and fulfilling year. To my colleagues and bosses who challenged, supported, and inspired me every step of the way - thank you for your leadership, collaboration, and trust. To those who said 'yes' to my applications, lent a listening ear when I had something to share, offered invaluable advice, taught the courses I took, shared their time and knowledge, or welcomed my service - you are truly incredible! Your kindness, encouragement, and generosity have left a lasting impact, and I am deeply thankful for each of you.

Here’s to a year of purpose, growth, and connection! What’s one lesson you’re carrying into 2025?
