Plan the run, run the plan

Without an investment into Sales Management, no amount of training, no amount of enablement, and no amount of consulting, will have any sustainable impact on your sales results. Period. - Dr. Neil Rackham
I love running. And I especially enjoy running longer distances. It’s something that has become an integral part of my life and my family has learnt to live with this madness. My latest focus is trail running, I am getting to see so many beautiful parts of our country whilst having fun. These longer runs require planning, forethought and a level of commitment before kicking off on a journey into the wilderness. Before setting off I know what I have with me, what I am going to encounter on the run and where I am going to end.
However, when the run starts there is a subtle shift in focus. It isn’t about the end goal all the time as this can become too heavy to bear. Thinking of the big goal can be overwhelming so my focus shifts to the kilometre that I am running and the next one that is coming. This allows me to adjust my running to the actual trail and make small adjustments without losing sight of where I am going. Over the years I have seen many strong athletes fail to finish long runs simply because the daunting distances became too much. One athlete who I know really struggled to finish her marathon races because “its just so far” however she regularly completed the same training distances with little problem. She was simply overwhelmed by the big picture.
I see the same in Automation Transformational projects. Very skilled teams within companies plan a digital transformation with automation as a key ingredient, they plan great paths for the company to follow with large teams focused on changing the whole company because “if you don’t, you will be left behind…” and after 3 months very little has changed. Change fatigue sets in and people revert to their old ways of working because it gets the job done. They do not adjust to looking at the “kilometre they are on and the one ahead.”
NorthWind Digital has a different approach to automation. We take the client’s transformation vision and break it down into short, managed sprints that can be deployed to production within days or weeks. These are then proof points for the client team to check against the transformational plan, giving ongoing ROI and, most importantly, allowing for rapid pivots should there be roadblocks on the way.
Small investment, big impact, real value and a fun journey into the world of automation awaits you with NorthWind Digital.
