Plan D of The Writer's Alphabet

Unlike Plans B or C, Plan D takes a different route to the same place—where you are working, productive, and happy. But it uses an entirely counterintuitive process—DELETE, as in Ctrl—Alt—Del.

Plan D chucks the whole kit and kaboodle (figuratively, not literally) out the proverbial window.

So, stick away your current writing task for a while.

Instead, approach your writing as if you were just placed on this planet by divine intervention.

It’s now your job to figure out what to write as you explore what the previous practitioner of Plan B or C was all about.

But don’t take over from where they left off.

You are starting fresh.

You are free to roam about the world and see what’s out there.

It’s a big place…

And a good place to start your quest to find out what in the name of God you want to accomplish with your writing or art.

Then, make sure that writing or speaking or teaching or preaching or pursuing your art is a way to achieve what you want.

If not, find the best way forward, even if it’s driving a garbage truck to get a new perspective on life.

Plan D seems drastic… and it is!

It may not be your cup of tea. If not, ignore it and move on.

Surprisingly, there are even more revolutionary plans beyond D.

Most, however, can be tried from the comfort of your desk, kitchen table, a local Starbucks, or wherever you do your writing.

Next time, we’ll cover Plans E, F, and beyond.

(I won’t keep you waiting too long this time.)

Let's get to work.
