Plan C

‘When Man starts planning, God starts laughing,’ said a spiritually evolved soul to me once. How right he was!

Ability to plan has differentiated a human being from other species so far. Planning is precisely one of the main things that he cannot do today.

 Spanish Flu killed millions of humans nearly a century ago. Covid 19 may not directly match that in number of deaths with it but can more than match up through living dead due to mental and economical damages. Covid 19 is destroying communities, societies and nations. A human being likes to plan. Plan his growth in business, society, socio-economic status, of his/her children’s, health, spirituality and in more. Some smarter humans had a Plan B as a fallback plan if the first plan does not work out. No one considered having a Plan C as safeguard to failure of Plan B. Covid 19 reminds us of the need to do so because something that should work when nothing else works.

Plan C will have very little to do with China too. True, that nefarious, expansionist, ambitious and powerful neighbor of India cannot act according to her wishes in this pluralistic world. If humanity has won against Spanish Flu, World Wars, Hitler and Covid 19, then it will survive Chinese aggression also.

The main issue is economic. Till about three months ago, most individuals and national economies were on Plan A. The time to invoke Plan B was not on the horizon.

In the last three months, humanity was hit by an invisible enemy. A virus that brought the world to a near standstill. It caught everyone including Trump, Modi, planners, economists, scientists, entrepreneurs, teachers, researchers, etc. off-guard. Three months back, everything was going as per plan. And then Covid 19 struck. Everyone is mortally worried now.as ther is no place to hide. A school going kid, the first-job executive, the manager, the doctor, the regulator, the middle-man, the bureaucracy, heads of countries, etc., everyone is worried of their tomorrows. Continuing with Plan A is bad idea, Plan B won’t work and no one knows about Plan C. If health concerns have brought you to the edge of the cliff, then economy will surely throw you off it.

 It is survival and not growth that is key now. Their lies the solution. Nature tells us that it is the survival of fittest. While Nature has nothing against human hunger for better standards of living, it does not want mankind to be at cross-purposes with it. Nature has time and again reminded human beings to be one with it. If Plan C is about survival then it should also be about being one with nature. That should not require much planning. Even animals do it.
