The Plague of Indifference
"The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference."?- Elie Wiesel
Indifference: Lack of interest, concern, or sympathy.?
Engagement: Actively participating and caring.
Empathy: Understanding and sharing the feelings of others, often prompting action.
Indifference allows suffering and injustice to persist while caring and taking action are essential to transforming the world. Indifference weakens society as lack of empathy becomes normalized, allowing harm, degradation, and unfairness to persist. Not only does society suffer, but so too does the individual as apathy fosters isolation and disconnection. Indifference is the combined degradation of the individual or the collective, accelerating a decline in innovation, creativity, culture, progress, and overall quality of life.?
Transforming the world begins with individual transformation. It starts with compassion, concern, and empathy followed by action.?
