Placing spaces…
Welcome back to Part 5 of the series The Changing Faces of Spaces. This tour has taken us through restaurants, offices, clinics and residences. We’re doing a pit stop on bungalows today.
“A house is made of brick and stone
A home is made of love alone!”
Yes, it’s a labour of love and decision making. May not be as difficult as giving birth, but comes pretty close to it when one compares stress levels! That’s why we also extend our architectural services to getting the plans sanctioned by the Pune Municipal Corporation.
An existing mango tree dictated this Baner residence design while the North direction optimised natural light for the artist studio on the first floor. Slate was used to highlight the corners and also protect them. The front and rear facades are balanced by the terraces that enhance the first floor. The project was completed in 2000.
Completed nearly a decade later, this bungalow at Aundh was designed on a Kerala theme. Sloping roofs with Mangalore tiles, seasoned wood transported from various parts of India, Attangudi tiles and a strict adherence to vastu were the key elements of this home.
