A Place To Be Yourself

It was a very fulfilling moment to hear that SHIELD has been recognized both as one of the Best Workplaces in Technology, and as one of the Best Workplaces overall.?

We’re extremely proud of our global company culture, especially since it’s something we place a great emphasis on here at SHIELD. I wholeheartedly believe that people are important for a? great culture to take root. This is something we keep in mind as we continue to hire new people and maintain our company culture.?

That said, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on three aspects of what makes SHIELD so special.

First, the SHIELD team enjoys one other's company whether it’s during or after working hours. We go out of our way to seek out and catch up with one another, both in person and over calls. In fact, we were so eager to meet after COVID restrictions were lifted that we’ve organized two global retreats in 2022 alone!?

When the team makes after-work plans together, such as going to the movies or exercising together, it clearly shows the bonds between SHIELD employees, even across business units and disciplines.?

Second, the open culture we have at SHIELD means that our offices are always vibrant with conversations ranging from casual banter to work discussions. Those visiting us have often remarked that they can feel the SHIELD energy that is unique to us as soon as they meet any of our team members.?

This brings me to the third aspect of SHIELD I wanted to talk about, the emphasis we’ve put on mutual respect and trust. We’ve worked hard to uphold a culture where our employees feel safe letting their walls down without fear of judgment. In fact, every single one of our employees (100%!) indicated in the anonymized Great Place to Work survey that everyone is treated fairly regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation.

This is especially important given that our global team is composed of a diverse group of people from a range of nationalities, races, and backgrounds. We actually have a team made up of over 15 nationalities and we collectively speak around 20 languages!?

Without the need to constantly put up a mask at work, people are free to focus on their work and be as innovative as they want to be. This is part of what makes working at SHIELD so meaningful to me - we’ve always set a high bar for ourselves in terms of the company culture that helps everyone succeed. Looking forward to continuing fostering our unique culture as the team expands!
