Hi, my name is Darren, I'm passionate about Art and Design, I also teach as well. I love placing my passion, that of Art and Design, within business as I've witnessed such a lack of it within large companies. I've had the pleasure to have worked for some rather illustrious banks both in London and in Frankfurt. I graduated as Graphic Designer and worked as designer in London before I took my talent in to banking, which was a wonderful experience. What happened while I slept, did I not hear a tale that what did "make us", had, in some form, died. You know, this does indeed sound like someone from the time of William Shakespeare, I am sure if that very learned and famous man had returned, he would be " mortified, if not " horrified" to see what his passion of writing had " succumbed to!

In a modern-day age of desk top publishing, paragraph checkers, spell checker, and I'm lousy at that! is it not a wonder why people are not engaging in what Shakespeare spent his life doing! In fact, with most publishing site the most people do is " to post a picture of their cat"!, or post a quick few words to say" Hi, I've given up cheese for a week"!! God, is this the future of Modern Literature, if it is I'm checking out to live in Slab City, California, at least there honesty is King! and I will be indeed surrounded by real " Living Literature" real Characters.

I beg of you, seriously what happened, why is it indeed people do not write and indeed publish. I think the answer lies, well at least in part with " Fear". When one writes and article, no matter who good, or bad, it is placed upon the table to be read, viewed and yes, commented upon, and it's that word " commented " upon that scares the living daylights why people dislike publishing. News here straight for the press, the chances are in life that whatever you do will please 50 %, well that's not bad odds, the other 50 % can go to hell! I'm no good, I don't have a degree in Modern Literature from Oxford University, hum! Now, yes, I love Oxford University, it is indeed a fantastic Uni with many great and illustrious Colleges where one can indeed, if good enough, study English Literature. I will quickly add here that there are many other great Universities, Cambridge, Berkley and UCLA are great too, there are many, or even go and attend a night course on writing.?

When you want to write something of interest don't just " attack the keyboard" carry a note book, it's something I teach my Art and Design Students to do, jot down your ideas in the book, it's a visual diary, and all these little drawing and notes add up!?Art and Design influences writing as well as its all about that " pivotal word " The Concept " this is the point where everything " Springs from"!

New comers to writing, as with in Art and Design bring a" Freshness" they have not been influenced by a certain discipline of design, they can find their own " uniqueness to any given subject. New comers have not been molded by a philosophy, a certain way to view to Art and Design , or indeed, Creative writing. I am always amazed to see what my students can do after a few hours of " Being let loose on the drawing pad", its breath-taking to see " confidence return to their faces" as they now realise, they can draw. The problem is with Art and Design as with Literature, people who have never been exposed to it " Have preconceived idea, expectation" of the subject,. that that has to be placed in the waste bin before you can start.

I have always found that writing " Straight from the Cuff" is the only way to write, you are never going to please everyone, everyone is different, what must always be placed on the table is " Honesty and Humour" and humour believe me is the key!

My passion is always about Great Art and Design and its place within Business, writing about is easy for me as it's about the fascinating colourful characters I've meet in my career, which has indeed been very colourful. So, when you write, don't edit before you have even started, just let the pen move! and I am sure you will move a lot of people and most probably " influence and Motivate " them to put pen to paper!
