Pizza: It's What's for Dinner

The American pizza industry is worth $40 billion dollars, making up about 17% of all US restaurants. It's ranked as the number one dinner food and 90% of us eat a minimum of one whole pizza per month. Frankly, Americans take their pizza seriously.
So what is it about pizza (besides how delicious it is) that makes it such a lucrative business? Consider this: pizza has always topped the charts for delivery, so one can imagine how well it would do with online sales. Today, pizza is the number one food ordered online and, more importantly, mobile. Papa John's Q3 report showed that out of all domestic sales, those made from digital channels took up almost 50%. Because of online and mobile ordering options, many companies have experienced exponential growth in sales from this new revenue channel with a higher volume and frequency of customer orders.
