Pivoting donations to home libraries during lockdown.

With schools and libraries closed for the foreseeable future, The Great Brain Cell Sacrifice had to quickly pivot to a slightly different charity model—helping to build home libraries for kids living in homes without a single book. Since lockdown began, we are pleased to announce that we have started over 175 home libraries for kids in under-resourced communities in America. The pivot came shortly after Governor Cuomo closed the schools in New York, and was thanks to working closely with our charity partner - The Books For Kids Foundation.

Immediately after lockdown began, sales tripled as direct-to-consumer deliveries of alcohol became increasingly popular. But despite the quick pivot and increased sales, it hasn't all been smooth sailing during the pandemic. Shipping, in particular, has been a puzzle.

We also introduced a new free shipping model, allowing customers to ship six bottles, anywhere in the country that will allow it, at no cost. Six bottles also equates to six books, which is enough to start a home library for a child in need and to make a tangible difference to their life.

Please click this link, buy some wine and help ensure every child has a book to read until, hopefully, the schools reopen in September.
