This pivotal moment in Aretha Franklin’s career applies to all women consultants

Welcome to today's edition of the Seven Figure Consultant LinkedIn Newsletter for Women in Consulting.?Don't forget that you can get daily updates from Jessica in your LinkedIn news feed?by accessing her LinkedIn profile and hitting Follow .?She will be sharing insights and discussions through the week that she would love to hear your views on.

Have you ever watched something and thought, ‘I just never want this to end. It's amazing’? I watched a docudrama about Aretha Franklin with my husband recently and that’s exactly how I felt.?

Some of the advice she was given when she was a child was, go and find a singer who you really respect and like, do whatever they do, copy everything they do, how they stand, how they sing. And a really pivotal moment during the story was when she decided: it’s time to stop pretending to be other people. It’s time to work out, who are you as a singer?

And that is so applicable to business. We go through stages where we have a role model and we say whatever they do, I'll do it too. But then you go through a process of thinking, who actually am I? Who sits behind the brand? How are we going to define this??

Those really are key moments, because when you have worked it out, it feels very clear. Up until then it can feel like a big tangle of thoughts and ideas and concepts.?

The show was call Genius: Aretha and it’s on the Disney Channel by the way, if you want to see it too.

I’m talking all about branding in this week’s episode of the Seven Figure Consultant Podcast. My guest is Stephanie Gunther and she is sharing how to use brand archetypes to amplify your business, brand, and bottom line.
