Pittsburgh Steelers Predictions 2019

2019 Pittsburgh Steelers Predictions

What's up Steeler Nation. I’m predicting that the big offenses will continue to overpower defenses this coming season. QB’s are being protected more and more, and for the 2019-2020 season:

RAMS OVER CHIEFS in the highest scoring Super Bowl ever!

For our beloved Steelers, things do not look promising. This year, the Browns will win the AFC North, the Steelers will finish 8-8 despite a weak tail end of our schedule.

Both James Conner and JuJu can expect to see a massive dip in production without the presence of Antonio Brown.

On a positive note, we had a very strong draft which should help us build for the future. Here’s a breakdown by pick:

  • Devin Bush from Michigan - #10 overall – surprisingly BOLD move for the normally conservative Steelers, we finally get a potential replacement for Ryan Shazier at inside linebacker. From all the interviews, he just seems like a really, really good dude too!
  • Diontae Johnson – rd 3, #66 overall, WR from Toledo, we needed a punt/kick returner, so, I like this pick as well.
  • Justin Layne – rd 3, #88 overall – CB from Michigan State – big, physical corner which in today’s NFL are very necessary to win championships.
  • Benny Snell Jr. – rd 4, #122 overall – bruising, hard nosed RB from Kentucky, will hopefully help to take the load off of Conner and Jaylen Samuels especially late in games in which we have the lead.
  • Zach Gentry – rd 5, #141 overall – big TE out of Michigan, former QB, I mean big – 6 foot 8 inches tall. I just played in a charity basketball game against Wes Lyons who was the same size, and for a guy of that size, it’s worth a shot even though there were arguably better TE’s available at the time.
  • Isaiah Bruggs – rd 6, #192 overall – DT out of Alabama nicknamed “Big Pooh” and will be another project for the Steelers coaching staff.
  • Derwin Gray – rd 7, #219 overall – OT from MD, may move to G with the Black and Gold.

Looking forward to training camp, that is always on our summer checklist. Hopefully, we will see some good battles for roster spots.

WR – ugh, without AB, JuJu needs to step up to a legit #1 threat, James Washington, Eli Rogers and new addition Donte Moncrief also need to step up.

QB – I predict at least 4 starts out of Josh Dobbs this season which will be HUGE as BIG BEN continues to get older.

RB – Conner/Samuels will both need to stay healthy which is tough because Tomlin does not like to use the running back by committee mentality. Our O-line is still one of the best in the business.

TE – if Vance Mcdonald can stay healthy for an entire season, he can be a special player.

On the defensive side of the ball, we are thin at linebacker which means that Devin Bush should have an opportunity to make an immediate impact and play more than the typical Steelers’ rookie. D-line is solid with Cam Heyward, Stephon Tuitt and Hargrove up front.

The free agent signing of Steven Nelson is huge, if he can play well opposite Joe Hayden, that will give our guys up front a chance to get some pressure on opposing QB’s. Our projected starting safeties are both well, eh, with Sean Davis at free safety and second year Terrel Edmunds at strong safety – last year’s Steelers’ top rookie.

The AFC looks strong this year especially the AFC West even though I think this is the year that the Pat’s finally starting their decline. With that being said, if we don’t compete for the division, I don’t think we have a shot at the wild card.

See you in Latrobe at training camp!

GO STEELERS!
