So here i am, 5 o clock in the morning sitting on my kingsize bed in San Jose. I'm really excited for what is coming and thankful for this chance to visit the place where the technological revolution that we are living in started. Our world is changing faster then ever and this causes a lot of great company to fall and new ones to arise. Off course my dream is that my company BarDoggy will end up as one of the great company's of the 21st century. So i'm here in the valley to pitch my ass off...
This blog will be in English to share my experiences globally :-) It will take 5 minutes to read it.
Today at 7.00 our group will be decided into 5 tracks that each follow their own program. I am part of the start-up track and today we will visit Menlow Park and San Francisco for a meet with BootUp Ventures, 500Startups and Berkley University. The day will end with a dinner in The Glasshouse in San Jose. During the day i will have the opportunity to tell people about BarDoggy. But time is short so i prepare a 1 minute pitch to make sure i can tell everybody what we are doing.
I started building my pitch in the airplane during my travel from Amsterdam to San Fransisco. This flight of 11 hours gave me enough time to work it our and make sure all would be in it. When building a pitch i always make use of the Pitch Canvas of David Becket. He is one of the best coaches around and always helps me out with his feedback. The art of pitching is to leave as much out as possible.
In one minute there is room for about 125-140 words. So you have to choose them wisely. I always ask myself did i point out these important subjects: What is BarDoggy, what problem are we solving, how do we do that, how do we make money and who is our customer. I also learned that a lot of people really want to know if the team is ok. And off course you have to share what you are looking for in order to create a call to action. Telling something about the traction helps the audience to know where you are standing on your journey to become a global company.
So it is a lot of information to put in a short pitch. But i am ready! Now i will start rehearsing te make sure i can give my pitch any minute of the day without blinking my eyes!
This is it:
My name is Tim de Kraker and I’m the founder of BarDoggy. BarDoggy is an international award winning entertainment platform. We help beverage suppliers to sell more drinks.
Now, beverage suppliers spent around 70% of their total marketing budget on poorly measurable marketing channels. Our platform is 20 times more effective and 5 times cheaper than traditional media PLUS we provide real-time campaign information. We cut out the marketing agency and bring in intelligence.
Last year 230.000 consumers used BarDoggy, 26.000 drinks where redeemed and we grew 2000%. We work for J?germeister, Coca Cola and Lucas Bols.
Our team is experienced and owns top3 platforms in hotel booking and chat sites in the Netherlands. We are looking for more beverage suppliers to work with, and for an investor to help us scale.
Please let me know if you are interested. Thank you very much!
If you have any tips to help me grow my company i would love to hear them. So share your thoughts, or ask me any question if you think i might be able to answer it.
Thanks for reading my post, kind regards Tim de Kraker
