The news about Pitchfork, the influential music site, merging with men's magazine GQ, took aback the readership and music industry professionals. Yet, unfortunately, this is not the only example when corporate power attempts to suppress an independently-minded business. We saw a similar scenario with Bandcamp taken over by Songtradr. Still, independence persists, at least beyond the world of music journalism. Some venerable labels thrive despite the world's often frustrating tendencies.?
