Nice summary, Kyle Cooper, of what to include in your pitch deck and why. I find it helpful to remember the primary goal of any pitch deck, and the 3 questions that must be well answered in the first 2 slides. This context helps founders critique their own deck as a whole rather than 15-20 discrete slides. Goal = Get a meeting 3 key investor questions the deck must answer to get a meeting = 1. What is your idea? 2. Why should I be excited about your idea? 3. Why should I be excited about your team? (1) is where many decks fail. It seems impossible, but many founders cannot clearly and concisely explain what their product is, who it helps, and how it helps. (2) Only matters if the deck answered (1) in the first 2 slides. To be exciting, your idea needs to address a big problem (big market) with a unique and compelling solution that has a significant and defensible competitive advantage. (3) Only matters if the deck answered (2) in the Problem/Solution/Product/Competition/Market Sizing slides. To be exciting, your team has to be a dream team for your idea. Meaning relevant experience and expertise in the problem domain, solution tech stack, GTM strategy, and startup building in general.
