The PitBox91 blueprint for building strong freelance relations
At PitBox91 we have built a talented team of PR and social media specialists working across the car, truck, motorcycle and motorsport sectors. Like many agencies, we also have projects that need additional specialist support. Whether it is in event management, video production or market research, we have built a strong network to deliver for our clients.
A scroll through some of our favourite journalists’ tweets shows that freelance life can be perilous at times. It struck us that it didn’t need to be like this, so we created a charter for our freelance friends, starting by calling them ‘associate partners’.?
Our key principles for working with our partners include:
Clear communication regarding project scope, deadlines, and deliverables. Regular check-ins can help address any issues promptly and keep the project on track. Where appropriate, we involve our partners in client meetings to contribute their expertise to the brief.
Pay immediately. If our contract with a client has long payment terms, that’s part of our rules of engagement with a long-term client. We don’t pass the pain of late payment to our partners. Often, freelancers are called at short notice. The best talent is in demand, and chooses to work with agencies that treat them with respect.?

Ensure that our associate partners are aligned to PitBox91’s own values and objectives. They may not be full time, but they need to feel they are an integral part of our team culture.?
Celebrate success together. It’s important that associate partners see the end result. Many freelancers tell us they feel a lot of their work disappears into the ether. Understanding the results at the end of a project is as important as the brief at the beginning.?
As a result, we have a superb extended team of experts who bring fresh perspectives and expertise to our client projects.?
If you want to work with an agency that can flex its team around yours, let’s talk.
