Pista sa Lennor: Engaging in the Digital Space

Written by Trixia Policarpio

Before the pandemic, certain companies in the Philippines were accustomed to the concept of working from home and relied on the advent of the internet as their workspace. When strict lockdowns and health protocols were implemented, however, many of the companies that followed the traditional working arrangement, in which employees would go to their offices every day, attend meetings in a room, and personally face their co-employees were forced to adapt to a new system. One of the issues posed by this abrupt shift is how to maintain their business culture despite their isolation.?

Most employees build interpersonal relationships with their coworkers through ordinary daily encounters such as eating lunch, drinking coffee, attending meetings together, and engaging in impromptu hallway chats. This, in turn, generates a positive spirit and a welcoming atmosphere at work. Lennor Group values this and effectively finds a means to cope and foster healthy engagement.?

Lennor Group conducted "Pista sa Lennor" on August 31, 2022. It is the company's town hall for the 2nd quarter of the year, and it includes reports of business outcomes for the previous quarter and strategies for the next. The event also serves as space and time for the recognition of individual or team successes. Additionally, fun, engaging games provide an opportunity for all employees, executives, and interns to participate.

The theme of the event is related to the August celebration of Buwan Ng Wika in the Philippines. The Lennor Group's Pista ng Pinoy aims to honor the vibrant culture and customs of the country by including elements from the country's most well-known traditions and Pinoy festivals. This quarter's town hall exudes the beauty, fun, and festivity of Filipino fiestas, from the event's name, and games to the aesthetic used.

This virtual consolidation event offers numerous advantages to the firm. First and foremost, Covid-19 has required us to adopt a novel and inventive approach to team building. Even though the program was conducted remotely, it was nearly as enjoyable as being there in person, and we can do it much more frequently than having everyone travel to the same location. Moreover, it is a healthy method of staff monitoring. While texting, emailing, and chatting have their functions, they have limitations when it comes to conveying meaning and making people feel closer. By bringing the team together in a common virtual space, updates, comments, requests, and plans are immediately communicated to all members. This promotes the company's members' shared commitment and mutual expectations.

Furthermore, the need to feel significant, respected, treasured, and appreciated is innately human. When employees feel valued, they tend to work harder and remain with the organization for longer. Using this event to recognize the employee or team's accomplishments motivates the members of the Lennor Group to constantly generate excellent results willingly. Essentially, there is always great value in valuing employees!
