Pipesim 2024.3 is now available

New tubing configuration for the advanced well type: Concentric tubing

The advanced well type was introduced in version 2023.1 to support complex well configurations. In 2024.1, the dual string configuration was introduced to support two parallel and independent tubing strings in the same wellbore. In this release, the advanced well functionality supports concentric tubing configuration, in which "pipe-in-pipe" setup is installed in the wellbore to enable various scenarios, such as:

  • Coiled tubing lifting, in which lift fluid is injected through the inner tubing and collected back, along with the produced completion fluid though the outer (main) tubing string.
  • Gas lift systems with velocity string, in which the inner tubing is plugged, and the gas lift gas is injected through the annulus.
  • Two separate fluid injections through the inner and outer tubing strings.
  • Different fluid circulation scenarios for SAGD operations.
  • Flow control valve on the long tubing (can be inner or outer tubing), which is used to support certain scenarios for SAGD operations.


Dual string gas lift improvement

A new tuning factor is available for advanced well scenarios and has been added to each valve under the gas lift injection valve system. The multiplier is applied to the calculated gas flowrate through the valve. This factor may be used to match individual valve performance.
