Pipeline Buckling Detection via UT ILI

Pipeline Buckling Detection via UT ILI

Rotary ultrasonic (UT-R) pipeline integrity gauges (PIG’s) provide high-resolution ultrasonic inspection data for short-length pipelines by collecting direct measurements of pipeline geometry and wall thickness. Rotary ultrasonic smart pigs use a single transducer with a rotating mirror crating a helical scan path as the PIG moves through the pipe, for this reason UT-R offers extremely high sampling density and resolution which is especially useful in pipelines with extreme corrosion.?

The following aminated video shows the detection and identification of buckling in a subsea pipeline via rotary ultrasonic (UT-R) ILI inspection data. B-Scan (circumferential) and C-Scan (Axial) data show changes in the distance from the center of the pipe to the pipe wall.?Animated 2D and 3D representations of the geometric deformations can be seen in relation to the UT data collected.
