Pioneers of a Movement
When it comes down to it, the drive, passion, and creativity of people my age is off the charts right now and it motivates me everyday. It should motivate you, too. It's finally the moment that we've been anticipating for so long. We're actually in control. We've got the tools and we know that while our tastes may vary, our goals are the same, to create experiences with one another and for willing, engaged audiences.
Too often are things pushed under the rug that nobody wants to talk about. I'm not saying this hasn't been brought up until now, I'm sure there's articles out there somewhere. This is more of my personal observation and my public reinforcement of the idea behind a new type of communication acting as a catalyst to fresh innovation and meaningful progress.
The way in which we communicate, through various outlets allows for a constant distribution of our thoughts, commentary, and ideas. We have Google chat up, while texting on our phones and messaging on facebook. We're liking pictures on Instagram and posting comments. We're curating news and industry insights within private facebook groups and email chains. It's this conglomeration of communication which allows us to have the most valuable conversations or debates with as many like-minded individuals as possible. As a result, we're presented with the freedom to choose who and how we develop these relationships.
I can certainly understand how one might think that all of those separate conversations aren't productive and that you're just spreading yourself thin, but we both know that's not true and it's not even about that. If we worried about losing sleep or having too much on our plate, we'd have given up awhile ago. This is only my first official post on LinkedIn, so I'm not even completely sure what the result will be, but I do hope this challenges you to meet new people, start conversations with those from different background or with different opinions.
We're all well aware that the ways in which we create, distribute, and consume content and art are constantly changing, but are we aware of how awesome that is?! We must surely be able to take a moment to stand back from the high-speed train we're on to recognize this has been possible due to our undeniable devotion we have for technology and the expression of "never get comfortable." Personally, and yes I've heard most generations think this way when they're young, but nonetheless, I think we're living in the most incredible time for music, film, art, fashion, tech, and culture. Every corner we turn there's something beautiful and new and while all of those segments of culture are subjective and different for each person, there's no denying that we're having the right conversations.
