A pioneering green energy strategy and a Harvard case study

We couldn't be prouder of our company, as this week Iberdrola's business model was used as a Harvard Business School case study, with students of the prestigious US university given the opportunity to engage with our Executive Chairman, Ignacio Galán, along with other senior management. Some 1,000 students across the day discussed the decisions taken over the last 20 years which have shaped the company’s strategy and drive into clean energy, as well as the company’s forward-looking strategy ??.

?? The Harvard case study, “Iberdrola, leading the energy revolution”, was prepared by Professor Juan Alcácer, James J. Hill Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School.?Students were able to take a deep dive into Iberdrola’s journey from a local company born in Spain, to a global green energy giant ??, the leading European electricity company and the third largest in the world.

Our growth has been delivered through a strategy based on anticipation, vision and excellent management led by our Executive Chairman with the support of a ?? team of professionals. Having been at the forefront of the energy transition for 20 years, we are now a global leader in sustainable energy. We are responsible for 40,000 MW of renewable energy in the world, made up of more than 21,000 MW of wind power and with 80% of our installed capacity free of polluting emissions.

? It is needless to say we are incredibly proud of our work which helps us remain on the path?towards a better world for everyone, promoting clean, home grown and affordable energy to achieve our goal: to provide communities with the best service possible ?? ?? ?? ??.?

Green energy around the world:?Greece

We recently announced a new and important?step towards a sustainable future in Greece. We?have begun the commissioning of the?Askio III wind farm ??, located in the town of Galatini, located in Western Macedonia. With an installed capacity of 50 MW, it will be capable of supplying enough clean, affordable and locally produced energy to meet the annual needs of more than 54,000 homes ??.

In order to minimise the environmental impact we have used Blade Lifter?technology ??, which is based on a 10-axle trailer that incorporates an articulated platform to rotate and vertically tilt the blades during transport, making it possible to move along existing roads and tracks ??. As a result, it reduces the need to factor in and build additional access routes and reduces our environmental impact. It's AMAZING ??!

As part of our social commitment, we have gone all out with the celebration of Women and Girls in Science Day on 11 February ?? ???? ??, an important event to continue promoting equal opportunities in STEM areas, with a special focus on engineering. At Iberdrola, we have long been aware of the need to promote technological vocations ? so we can nurture the best talent and build the energy of the FUTURE ?? .

New International Master's Scholarship Programme

Last but not least, we would like to remind our readers that we have announced an important call for applications for ?Iberdrola Master's Scholarships, which is ranked among the best global training programmes for graduates and final-year university students. In total, we have invested one and a half million euros to continue promoting young talent in the energy sector.?
