Pioneer Saloon, Goodsprings, Nevada
If you are driving along Interstate 15 heading towards Las Vegas, take a moment to make a trip to Goodsprings to eat at the famous but not known by many (for this, of course, I tell you) Pioneer Saloon. It will take a short time, but you will visit a real saloon, off the beaten track and where you can still feel the atmosphere of the wild west. Its built dates back to 1913 and still retains almost all of the furniture of the period. You can, among other things, find again the bullet holes on the wall fired in 1915 by a poker player (Joe Armstrong) to shoot his opponent to death (Paul Coski), found cheating. But the saloon has become very famous for something else that is the story that ties him to the famous couple Clark Gable and Carole Lombard. Gable in fact waited in vain for three days inside the saloon, for his young and beautiful wife, actress Carole Lombard, then discovering that she was tragically perished in a plane crash, caused by the aircraft crashed into Mount Potosi, near the saloon. Inside you can see a whole wall dedicated to the couple. It is also said that the Pioneer is haunted by spirits and the owner, also organizes tours to get in touch with the door of the afterlife dimension that according to him, is in the basement of the local. However in the evening, I guarantee that the atmosphere really is scary and if you also have the courage to go into the bathroom of the saloon alone and close the door, maybe you will hear some voice. You can find characters who populate this place, very picturesque, often bikers and also excellent burgers (forget the meat of certain fast food, here you will eat real and juicy meat I guarantee), and if you come in the day right, you will never forget the blond bartender and its attributes that are not just her cowboy hat. But be careful that here the people are “tough”, hard and pure, friendly, but, ready to show off his cowboy ways, therefore, be respectful !!!
