Pinterest for e-commerce

Pinterest for e-commerce

Today I want to share some tips for all of your e-commerce businesses out there.

One of the biggest misconceptions about Pinterest is that it only works for bloggers. This is categorically untrue! In fact, Pinterest CEO Bill Ready recently said it's his goal in 2023 to make EVERY part of Pinterest shoppable. And while we think having a blog is helpful and beneficial for Pinterest, it's not necessary.

People love shopping on Pinterest, 48% of Pinterest users say shopping is a top priority when they are using the platform and 75% of weekly Pinterest users say they’re always shopping. So if you sell products, Pinterest could be a huge opportunity to reach a wider audience.

Here are 3 tips for e-commerce businesses.

  1. Make sure you have your product catalog on Pinterest and apply to be in the Verified Merchant Program. The process is a bit technical but it's worth the extra effort. By getting all your products on Pinterest, each one will start coming up for relevant searches and appear in the "Shop" tab!
  2. Use photos and videos of your product in use. Don't just use product shots with white backgrounds, mix things up and showcase how to use your product, or before and afters. Lifestyle photos and videos perform very well on Pinterest!
  3. Repurpose your Instagram Reels or TikToks. If you're over on Instagram creating fun and engaging videos, don't be afraid to use them on Pinterest too. You can download them from Instagram (although your video will be better if it doesn't have an Instagram logo) or create one in Canva or an app like Splice and upload them to the platforms directly. Not all content will work for Pinterest, but anything that is offering value (i.e. how-to, DIY, videos showing how the product works, etc) could be used will work great. Just make sure you are keywording your video!
