WCA Projects
WCA Projects is an alliance comprising many of the world’s most experienced independent project forwarders
In the Spring of 2023, Pinnacle Logistics Solutions (PLS) planned and oversaw the transportation of four 120 ton crane girders from Warren fabricating and machining corporation in Ohio to Algoma’s steel making facility in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canadad for ongoing construction of their new electric arc furnaces (EAF).
These will be replacing their existing blast furnaces and basic oxygen steelmaking operations which are expected to reduce Algoma carbon emissions by approximately 70%. The logistics required in support of this important project, led by Walters group, demonstrates the level of collaboration required to take meaningful steps towards sustainability.
From end-to-end, PLS took care of integrating and coordinating our partners, including over the road transportation on a 16 axle hydraulic trailer with prime mover, RORO, and the tug and barge for the marine transportation from Ohio, USA, to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada.?
After transiting through Lake Erie, the St. Clair River, and into Lake Huron, the tug and barge arrived to Algoma’s own dock, where the cargo was offloaded and delivered and placed onto storage stands for erection by Walters field personnel. #experiencematters
