PINHOLE TECHNIQUE :

I must start this testimonial by saying that I had a good experience with pinhole gum grafting and you can read on to see how smoothly my surgery went for the most part. I was introduced to this technique by my dentist Dr. Rajat Sachdeva, and I dint know a squat about it before.

I had been suffering from receding gums since quite some time now. But all I knew about the treatment options were very invasive. That is quite the reason I had been avoiding my dentist till now. However, my issues with gum recession such as sensitivity increased and pushed me to tend to it.

Also, if I waited any longer, I was scared my teeth would fall out. So I immediately scheduled an appointment with Dr. Rajat Sachdeva in Ashok Vihar.

The clinic is exceptionally good with excellent reception and staff. The location is great and the infrastructure of the clinic is up to the mark.

I would like to compliment on the cleanliness and sanitation of the clinic. It really reassures you, especially during COVID times. Dr. Rajat Sachdeva explained to me the procedure in detail.

He informed me that after administering local anesthesia to numb my gums, he would inject collagen strips under my gums, thereby filling in the receding spots to cover the tooth with the gums to the previously normal state.

He was also honest in letting me know that there would be a recovery period with some discomfort and that I may need to be on some medications during the recovery time. I appreciated knowing that because most of the dentists are not completely honest with the patients.

Dr. Sachdeva is very thorough and works to greatly reduce the chance that future surgery will be needed. He has great surgical acumen to carry out the procedure effortlessly and as minimally invasive as possible, so that the recovery period is also painless and healing is quick.

My appointment was scheduled in the morning and I was asked to have a nice breakfast before the surgery. I was not made to wait for long and was quickly called in.

It was good to see that everything was prepared in advance of the surgery without any hassles. Dr. Rajat made me comfortable and his body language exuded confidence which immediately relaxed me and made me know that I was in good hands,

As the procedure started, I was first given a small shot to anesthetize the gums. I hardly felt anything after that, but I was able to see the surgery live with a live camera set up and was later given a tape of the same.

This is an incision-free procedure that means no stitches either. The pinhole technique involves making small holes (pinholes) in the gums and special instruments are used to loosen the gum tissue and move it over the areas with gum recession. Collagen strips were placed between the gum tissue and bone behind the gums, through this pinhole, to help cover the facial surfaces of previously exposed roots.

The strips are white and when pushed through the pinhole, they appear as little baggy sacks between the spaces in the teeth. These collagen strips are actually pieces of a resorb able collagen membrane and has been used for long in dentistry. It will help rejuvenate my gums and gives me a healthy smile.

The procedure took less than an hour and was completely painless. I was even able to drive back home myself. I had a mild swelling in the operated area, which was apparently normal and I was informed about it before. I was called in one day after the surgery and I was doing well. I could already see the difference in the height of the gums post-surgery. Within one week, I had completely recovered and my smile looked healthy and appealing now.

I would highly recommend this novel procedure to everyone who is facing gum recession problems. The Pinhole Surgical Technique is definitely an attractive alternative to the traditional gum grafting surgery we know of, the main reason being that the pinhole technique is a comfortable and non-invasive procedure which doesn’t require any stitches or cutting of gum tissues.
