The Pineapple Plan

The Pineapple Plan

It’s been eight months since Philip first messaged me on Linkedin to ask if I fancied a chat about a project he was working on.

With no idea what it was and slightly star struck having followed his Honest journey, my response read ‘yes to anything’. Playing it cool as per.

Within weeks I had met Will at one of the pilot events. Fascinated by both his sporting achievements and his theories on team stability – I knew the project was a special one. The event? A basement filled with the best in the business, getting heated about people data. Passion oozing from everyone in the room.

I reported back to CK. ‘There’s this thing, it’s all about people data, with the Honest guy and a rugby player and a shitload of people are talking about it’. She was in. Obvs.

Then there was 4.

The Pineapplettes

The vision was simple:

??To create a community of people leaders with shared values around people culture.

??To build a benchmarking report that supported both people leaders and board rooms in making decisions.

??To create a bunch of mould-breaking, value adding events that were loved by all who attended.

From the start we knew we were on to something.

We knew the industry lacked any sort of benchmarks and we were troubled by the lack transparency around people data conversations. There was excitement when we spoke to operators – and an internal belief it could become a gamechanger for the sector.

The next six months became about debates, discussion, webinars, first drafts, second drafts, twentieth drafts but by the end of the year we had produced something we were proud of.? The reports covered the workplaces of 50,000 people and the feedback around how useful it was, filled us with hope.

However, it wasn’t perfect and as any good founder knows, the fulfillment of a purpose and vision is a long and windy road.

This is what we learnt:-

·?????? Accessing the data wasn’t easy for everyone. HR tech wasn’t always on our side.

·?????? Two of our five metrics were new to most, and these would take some time for people to get their head around.

·?????? Data fatigue is a thing. Asking for it monthly is going to be too much.

·?????? The trends created needed to be seen quarterly, not monthly.

·?????? People wanted more. More data points, more metrics.

Armed with these points and a bunch of gratefully received feedback we have moved into PHASE TWO. (I have a sneaky feeling that Pineapple will forever be innovating but this change feels not only a big one, but the right one.)

Buckle up friends, this is the new plan:-

·?????? We are inviting subscribers to join the revolution from the 4th March.

·?????? The subscription costs £500 per year for two reports (consecutive quarters) or £750 for four reports.

·?????? Reports will be personalized so you can see your data against your sector and company size.

·?????? Data must be submitted to receive any format of the report.

·?????? The report will not only contain the previous metrics but also our new spend & diversity metrics currently being piloted.

·?????? The first request for data will be the 1st April.

·?????? We have a team of experts on hand to help simplify your collation process.

·?????? We will produce an insights report twice a year to create some ‘so what’ stuff from the data.

I’m so proud to be involved in such a trailblazer of a project. The response from operators has been incredible. Our industry is struggling and now more than ever, we need solid data and insights to remove the gut feeling from our decision-making process.

So please do watch this space.

More announcements will follow and we will finally get to ask you on the 4th March…..

Are you in or are you out?
