Are Pilates and Yoga the same?

Here’s something people don’t realize…
Yoga and Pilates are both great ways to stay in shape, but they’re not as similar as you may think.
Yoga is a practice that focuses on meditation, breathing, and body awareness with postures that help you stretch different muscles. The main goal of yoga is to help you achieve a state of mindfulness and well-being through physical activity.
Pilates is also an exercise modality, with a focus on strengthening and lengthening your muscles while improving mobility. Pilates uses equipment with springs, and other props (bands, weights, circles, etc), to deliver a full body resistance training workout. Pilates is able to assess and work with a number of conditions from muscular imbalances, postural dysfunction, injuries, surgery preparation and recovery. With a focus on corework, and correct form, you are kept in the exact position to achieve optimal muscular benefit (no cheating!), joint mobility, soft tissue release, and much more! Pilates aims to build strength, restructure muscular patterning, support your spine, engage your core, and keep you upright, doing what you love for longer.
Both of these practices can help you improve your health, overall fitness level, confidence level, flexibility levels and posture.
