ABOUT PIKALA ...
Pikala is an organization launched in 2016 in Marrakech, we are committed to promoting the integration of cycling in Morocco. Our vision revolves around the recognition of cycling as a catalyst for education, employment and sustainable tourism.
We address prevalent transportation issues and social challenges, positioning young Moroccans as leaders in transforming the country's urban practices.
On the “Hardware”, Pikala focuses on improving cycling infrastructure and public spaces. At the same time, the “Software” emphasizes “bicycle culture”, extending beyond use itself to encompass citizen’s participation, well-being and road safety.
PIKALA’S HIGHLIGHTS IN AUGUST
PIKALA Girls Tour.
This month, 6 ladies hit the road on the bike for a 4-day trip between Imsouane and Agadir. Bicycle tourism isn’t just about exploring Moroccan landscapes in an eco-friendly way—it’s also a powerful tool for personal and collective empowerment. While cycling is often seen as a male-dominated sport, they successfully transformed that narrative !
Road Safety Workshops in Summer camps.
Our team animated road safety workshops for 260 kids in summer camp. The summer period is great to continue fostering our commitment to ensure that all kids are able to move by bike in the street safely.

OUR ECO-HERO STORY OF THE MONTH
Nouhaila : Cycling Teacher at Pikala Marrakech
" I'm Nouhaila, a 21-year-old born and raised in Marrakech. I'm currently in my second year at university, specializing in audiovisual studies.I have a passion for social work and have been involved in various activities with different associations. One of the most impactful experiences has been working with Pikala. Joining Pikala was a great decision that allowed me to meet incredible people and grow in ways I hadn’t imagined. Through my involvement, I overcame my fear of facing the camera and improved my ability to connect with others. My social skills have flourished, and I’ve learned the importance of being open to new experiences. When I began cycling classes, I quickly started teaching others how to ride. Cycling is crucial for health, yet not many people realize its benefits. Thanks to Pikala’s efforts, more people are now aware of cycling’s importance. I’ve been with Pikala for two years, and this is my third. I plan to stay because of the valuable activities it offers our community. I encourage everyone to join us and be part of this positive change with the bicycle."
