Pie Over the Generations
We put away the breadboard... What does this mean? Leann often needs to get her hands into cooking. It's her way to get her mind away from her fybro pain and other cares.
It also means this ol' goat gets fresh cherry pie and the grand daughter gets another lesson in 'how to' make the best flaky crust, 'how to' add the filling, and 'how to' form the edge 'just right'.
It's a time for smiles and patience, and a hum or two of a contented pace, knowing her love for her family. The little one gets to wear her own kitchen apron just for making pie. She also gets a bit of crust to roll out in her own way and of toppings.
This ol' goat gets to clean up a bit. I smile and hum a bit too, as I know the value of the generations, teaching far more, side by side, than how to make a pie. So I put away the old cook book, you know, the one with the worn and torn pages, and old filling spills from a legion of cakes and pies.
Last I put away the monster sized breadboard. It's 1/4 of a table top and two inches thick and it makes me smile every time and now you know why...
